I admit I thought the Olympic hockey pitch in blue was simply a novelty to overcome the poor quality of the chosen surface. True the surface was showing wear by the end of the two weeks and didn’t offer the legacy other surfaces could have, but the vibrant blue surface made an impression. So much so that when Newcastle RGS decided to replace their 6 year old pitch, they opted for the blue Rhino-Turf HF18 surface.
