I admit I thought the Olympic hockey pitch in blue was simply a novelty to overcome the poor quality of the chosen surface. True the surface was showing wear by the end of the two weeks and didn’t offer the legacy other surfaces could have, but the vibrant blue surface made an impression. So much so that when Newcastle RGS decided to replace their 6 year old pitch, they opted for the blue Rhino-Turf HF18 surface.
First impressions are positive, not just from the colour but also the way the hockey turf plays. Contrasting colours – blue with green run off at Newcastle, green with red run off at Bristol GS and Lord Wandsworth College – make bold statements, highlighting the playing area of the pitch. With a heavy weight surface design the Rhino-Turf HF18, in green or colours, is a sure fire winner.
