In April 2014, the school administration determined that the playing surface on the artificial turf playing field installed in the summer of 2006 would not adequately support the school’s needs for a first-class playing surface both for regular PE classes and its competitive varsity football, rugby and touch rugby teams.
We undertook a competitive tender to determine the best quality turf within our budget and selected the Rhino-Turf VT60 product. We determined that the product would serve the school well with its fibrous rootzone base. We expected the fibrillations to “sit up” well and the surface to play very much like a real grass field. Another serious consideration for the school was the safety aspect of the product and we were impressed with the emphasis placed on safety by the representatives of Centaurs Group, which represents RhinoTurf in the region. The shock pad was quoted as a requirement to meet the WR standard. The installation had a tight deadline, as we required completion during our summer vacation. , 416F Centaurs Group and Rhino Turf have met all ISKL’s expectations. The installation was completed on time and to the highest standard. The installer from Holland was an experienced professional who worked around the clock to ensure that the lines for all the sports were sewn in accordance with the specifications.
Our sports teams commenced playing on the new surface before the start of the new school year and our coaches, players and visiting teams have all commented positively on how the surface feels underfoot and on the consistency of the bounce of the ball. We have also been impressed with the commitment of Centaurs Group to provide advice on the maintenance of the playing surface and on the supply of the most appropriate maintenance equipment.
We have no hesitation in recommending Centaurs Group and Rhino Turf.
